1) Your first step is to let us know whether you need residential or commercial roofing.

The cost of repairs varies as there are a lot of materials available to both options. Residential roofing mostly uses architectural and asphalt shingles. Commercial roofing systems have even a bigger variety of materials - single-ply (TPO, PVC, EPDM), modified bitumen, concrete, tar and gravel, and many others.

Another important detail to keep in mind is the length of the building for installation. Commercial buildings are typically bigger than residential housing and are flat or have a lower slope. Commercial roofing installation is often a complex process, taking more than a month compared to a day or two for most residential roof installation.

2) Then you need to choose the material. The most popular options include:

  • Asphalt and Architectural Shingle
Architectural shingles are high-quality dimensional or laminated shingles. The material used is a fiberglass mat base coated with ceramic minerals that are implanted in water-resistant asphalt. Asphalt shingles are coated with asphalt to shed water.
  • Tile Roofing System
Tiles are less popular material. They are usually made of terracotta or slate, and they overlap in parallel rows.
  • Metal Roofing System
The metal system is a more expensive choice because it’s considered to be more durable. They need rare maintenance, are safe and energy-efficient. They are made of tin, zinc, aluminum, copper, or galvanized steel.
  • Single-Ply Membranes are usually rubber sheets that are chemically adhered to insulation or ballasted. There are two main kinds of this type: EPDM Single-ply Roofing and TPO Single-ply Roofing. Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer (EPDM) is a flexible synthetic rubber compound. It is a very popular option and has been in use for commercial roofing facilities since the mid-1960s. Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) is increasing its popularity on the market. They are made up of a single layer of synthetics and reinforcing scrim that can be used to cover flat roofs.
